Conservatism We Can Trust
For too long the citizens of Hillsborough County have had to endure politicians who wrapped themselves in the flag of Conservatism. They make many promises and talk hope and dreams of a better future for ourselves and our children. Then why I ask do we find ourselves in these times of increasing taxes, failing infrastructure and unfulfilled campaign promises. It is because they either lost their way or never had the Republican Principles they swore they had.
I have those Principles and have demonstrated them over and over again; as a member of the Hillsborough Citizens Advisory Committee, helping to keep the Indigent Health Care Program solvent without raising taxes, helping set a framework for the $812 million Transportation program in 2017 that did not require increasing taxes and in helping to defeat an illegal and fraudulent sales tax so you could keep more of your own money.
To supply the Infrastructure we need
How long must we wait for the maintenance of our roads and sidewalks. How long must we wait for a transportation system that meets the needs of our growing county. We have been held hostage to the passing of a 1 percent sales tax for decades. The proponents of the tax have lied to all of us about where the money goes and what it will do.
We will wait NO LONGER. I have helped establish such a program in the past and have shown it is possible to fix our transportation system in the future. All without raising taxes.
To shrink government and provide the tax relief we deserve
From government over reach to reaching into our pockets and bank accounts the current growth in County government is not sustainable and we are headed for a fiscal cliff. To say you want to make housing affordable then raise all the fees and taxes that helps push people out of their homes is not going to solve anything. In times of major inflation, increasing numbers of economically at-risk families, now is the time to bring this accelerating government growth to an end.
So that we and not the government can establish the quality of life for ourselves and our families that we want.
A famous president once said; “In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. From time to time we’ve been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. But if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else?”
This is even more true today. We have been promised much and received little. I intend to deliver on those promises so help me God.
